SMALL CLIP. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Keep Your Wheelie Bin Lid Closed in Wind, Rain & Around Wildlife

LidStop is a simple clip-on wheelie bin lid solution that helps keep lids under control in wind, reduces access from birds and other wildlife, and helps keep rain out. A wheelie Bin Lid Clip That Helps Stop Wind, Animals & Rain — Without Removal on Bin Day

✅ Helps Keep Bin Lids Closed

Why LidStop Works Better Than Traditional Bin Lid Clips and Locks

Many traditional bin lid locks, straps and clips attach to the front or sides, require drilling, or need to be removed before collection. LidStop works differently. It attaches at the rear handle and uses controlled resistance to help keep the lid closed, while still allowing it to open normally when the bin is emptied.

Clip it on once. Set & forget.
It uses a simple gravity-based clip that:

  • Helps stop wind blowing the lid fully open
  • Makes it harder for birds and wildlife to access the bin
  • Helps keep rainwater out
  • Helps reduce flies, insects and odours
  • Prevents the lid flipping back past 90°
  • Helps reduce annoying lid banging in wind
  • Allows normal bin collection
  • Helps the lid return to a closed position after emptying
  • Clips on in seconds — no tools, drilling or straps

Keeping the lid closed can also help reduce the conditions that attract flies and lead to maggots. Learn how to help prevent maggots in your wheelie bin →

How LidStop Works

LidStop clips onto the rear handle area of your wheelie bin. Instead of locking the lid shut, it adds controlled resistance as the lid opens — helping prevent wind and wildlife from lifting it fully while still allowing normal bin collection.

When the bin is emptied, the lid is free to open normally and return towards the closed position afterwards.

✅ Clips on in seconds

✅ No removal on bin day

Why LidStop Is Different From Traditional Wheelie Bin Locks

Unlike bulky bin locks that require drilling, straps, clips or removing hardware before bin day, LidStop keeps your wheelie bin lid closed automatically using gravity — no tools, no padlocks, no extra steps.

Once fitted, the lid stays shut in wind, storms, animals and overfilling, then flexes on collection day so garbage trucks can empty your bin normally. After tipping, the lid returns to a closed position, helping block rain, odours, flies and insects.

Trusted by 10,000+ households, schools and councils, LidStop provides a simple alternative to traditional bin locks, straps and weights.

✔ Clip-on and tool-free — no drilling or brackets required

✔ Uses controlled resistance — not tension straps or bungee cords

✔ Low-profile design that won’t interfere with truck arms

✔ Built for harsh weather — wind, rain and wildlife problems

✔ Safer than bricks or weights, which can fall off during emptying

LidStop Solves These Common Wheelie Bin Problems

  • Help Stop Birds & Wildlife Opening Your Wheelie Bin

LidStop adds controlled resistance as the lid opens, making it harder for birds and other wildlife to lift the lid fully. This helps keep rubbish inside the bin and reduces the mess caused by animals accessing waste.

  • Help Keep Rain Out of Your Wheelie Bin

By helping the lid stay closed, LidStop reduces rainwater getting into the bin during wet weather. This means less soggy rubbish, fewer unpleasant smells and less water collecting inside the bin.

  • Help Keep Overfilled Bin Lids Under Control

When bins are filled to the top, LidStop applies resistance to help keep the lid down. This can reduce loose rubbish blowing out and help keep bins tidier — without straps, weights or drilling.

  • Help Reduce Unpleasant Bin Odours

Keeping the lid closed helps contain unpleasant smells inside the bin rather than allowing them to spread around your home, street or outdoor area. A closed lid can also make waste less accessible to birds and wildlife.

  • Help Reduce Bin Lid & Hinge Damage

Loose bin lids can repeatedly flap and slam in strong wind, putting unnecessary strain on lids and hinges. LidStop helps keep the lid under control, reducing repeated banging and potential wear over time.

  • Help Reduce Flies, Maggots & Insects

A bin lid that stays closed makes it harder for flies and insects to reach household waste. This can help reduce the conditions that lead to flies, maggots and other common bin pests. Learn how to help prevent maggots in your wheelie bin →

  • Help Reduce Litter & Spills

When wind or rough weather knocks a wheelie bin over, keeping the lid under control can help reduce rubbish spilling onto streets, paths and surrounding areas.

  • Simple Clip-On Installation — No Tools Required

LidStop clips directly onto the rear handle area of your wheelie bin in seconds. No drilling, screws or complicated installation is required. A cable tie can also be fitted through the LidStop as an optional extra.

  • LidStop LidStop

Works Automatically on Bin Day — Nothing to Remove

LidStop flexes as the bin is lifted and emptied, allowing the lid to open normally without unclipping or removing the product. After collection, the lid can return towards its closed position automatically.

How Does LidStop Keep a Wheelie Bin Lid Closed?

LidStop clips onto the rear handle area of a wheelie bin and adds controlled resistance as the lid opens. This helps keep the lid closed against wind, birds and wildlife while still allowing it to open normally when the bin is emptied on collection day.

Do You Have to Remove LidStop on Bin Day?

No. LidStop is designed to stay attached to the wheelie bin during normal collection. Its flexible design allows the lid to open as the bin is emptied, so there is no need to unlock, unclip or remove LidStop before putting your bin out.
