LidStop 2-Pack – Simple Clip-On Wheelie Bin Lid Lock for Wind, Storms & Wildlife
The LidStop 2-Pack is ideal for smaller households or anyone wanting to secure one or two bins. This lightweight clip-on resistance device helps keep wheelie bin lids closed during wind and storms, reduces wildlife access to food scraps, and prevents the lid from flipping past 90° when emptied — making the lid fall shut automatically after the garbage truck empties your bin.
A clean, safe and effortless way to keep your bins closed and protected all week.
Why Choose LidStop?
✔ Keeps Your Wheelie Bin Lid Closed in Wind & Storms
LidStop adds flexible resistance once the lid reaches about 40–45°, helping stop it from blowing wide open in bad weather.
✔ Helps Reduce Access from Birds & Possums
Wildlife may lift the lid slightly, but LidStop makes it harder for them to push it further, reducing easy access to food waste.
✔ Lid Automatically Closes After Emptying
LidStop stops the lid from flipping back past 90° during truck emptying.
When the bin is put back down, the lid falls closed naturally under its own weight.
This helps reduce:
- Rainwater entering the bin
- Fly and insect activity
- Odours from escaping
- Wildlife interest after bin day
✔ No Drilling, No Straps, No Tools Required
Clips on instantly — nothing to remove before collection and nothing to forget.
✔ Safer Than Using Bricks or Other Weights
No heavy objects that can fall off when the bin is lifted and cause damage.
✔ Fits Standard Australian Bins
Compatible with 120L and 240L council wheelie bins across Australia.
How LidStop Works
LidStop is a gravity-based resistance clip — not a lock or latch.
- Clip it onto the bin handle in seconds.
- As the lid lifts to roughly 40–45°, resistance activates, making it harder for the lid to open fully.
- On rubbish day, the garbage truck empties your bin normally — LidStop flexes so the lid can open.
- LidStop prevents the lid flipping past 90°, so it closes itself after the bin is emptied.
Simple, automatic, and low-maintenance.

LidStop does not fully lock the bin.

Resistance begins at ~40–45° (not at zero degrees).
-
Wildlife may lift the lid slightly, but LidStop reduces how far they can open it.
-
Extreme weather conditions may require additional bin positioning.

How does LidStop stop wheelie bin lids blowing open?
LidStop doesn’t clamp the lid shut — instead, it addscontrolled resistanceonce the lid reaches roughly40°.
This extra resistance stops the lid from being flicked open by wind gusts, yet still allows the truck to lift and empty the bin normally.
Can LidStop help reduce rainwater-related mess and pollution runoff?
Yes. By keeping the lid from blowing open during storms, LidStop helps stopexposed waste from getting wet and leaking onto driveways and streets.
This preventspollution runoff, foul odours, and soggy waste spills — especially in heavy rain or windy conditions.
Does LidStop stop birds, crows and possums getting into bins?
LidStop acts as a deterrent, not a lock.
It adds resistance at the point wildlife usually tries to lift the lid, making it much harder for birds, crows and possums to nudge the lid open.
Most wildlife give up once they encounter that extra resistance — greatly reducing bin raids and mess.
Is LidStop easy to install?
Yes — it takes 10 seconds and requires no tools.
Slide it on, set the tension, and you’re done.
Does LidStop work with council bin trucks and side lifters?
Yes. LidStop is designed to flex when the truck arm lifts your bin, so collection works exactly as normal.
Will LidStop extend the life of my wheelie bin?
Yes. LidStop helps reduce:
- Lid damage from being blown open in strong wind
- Stress on hinges and alignment caused by repeated slamming
- Damage from bins being knocked over with the lid wide open
- Rain-related waste spills that cause odours and contamination
By keeping the lid more controlled and stable, it helps protect the bin and reduces long-term wear and tear.
Do you offer discounts for bulk or council orders?
Yes. Councils, bin cleaning services, and waste contractors receive tiered pricing on bulk orders.

Had about 2 bin collections since installing Lidstop
Bin is completely empty after pickup
Sometimes after bin collection bin is laying down lid still closed
So far have been very impressed with lid stop
a good product
Our local council is trialing lid stop when I heard this I jumped online and bought 2 as I had a concern with bins over and rubbish every where on windy days so far exceeds expectations well done
Purchase multiple units to manage litter & prevent birds raiding bins around the school property. It has made a substantial difference. Great product
They really work !
A very elagent solution to preventing cockatoos from lifting the bin lid and spreading rubbish all over the street.
Living on the top of a windy hill, I now delight in knowing our bin lids no longer fly open and incessantly beat like a pesky drum as they bang back against the body of the bin. I've even been caught delighting in watching the bins being emptied into the collection truck just to see our LidStops at work. They are easily removed and reattached if you need to open the bin all the way to facilitate something like emptying a grass catcher. A terrific aid and a brilliant idea.
